Just because you leave your PC unattended for 5 minutes and something else pops on your screen, doesn't necessarily mean that it's a screensaver.
The reason it's called a screen 'saver', is that it's nature is to save your screen.
You may wonder why your screen needs saving at all...
The reason is that if you leave the same data on your screen for a long period of time, that data will begin burning into your screen.
With old CRT monitors, this screen burn was permanent, while with LCD screens, it is simply an annoying, though generally temporary, image persistence.
Screen Resolution
In order to determine what size screensaver you need designed, you will first need to determine your screen resolution. Depending on your OS (Operating System), there are different ways to go about determining your screen res...
Windows 7
- Right click on your desktop, and then click 'Screen resolution' from the context menu that appears.
- In the window that pops up, next to where it says 'Resolution', there will be two sets of numbers (for example '1920 x 1080'). Those numbers are your screen resolution.
Windows Vista
- Right click on your desktop, and then click 'Personalize' from the context menu that appears.
- In the window that pops up, click 'Display Settings'
- Underneath the 'Resolution' heading, you will see a slide bar and underneath that two sets of numbers (for example '1920 x 1080'). Those numbers are your screen resolution.
Windows XP
- Right click on your desktop, and then click on 'Properties' from the context menu that appears.
- In the window that pops up, click the 'Settings' tab
- On the bottom left, you will see a Screen resolution slider, and underneath that two sets of numbers (for example '1920 x 1080'). Those numbers are your screen resolution.
